Jarrod Borkat is a seasoned life sciences executive with 25 years of experience in marketing, operations, and strategic partnerships. Before joining On Demand Pharmaceuticals, he was a consultant at Pillar One Consulting and served as an Executive in Residence (EIR) for BioHealth Innovation, assisting early-stage companies in raising capital. Previously, he held the position of SVP, Head of Marketing and Portfolio Operations at CareDx, a publicly traded diagnostics firm, and was VP of Corporate Strategy at Emergent BioSolutions. Earlier in his career, Jarrod led various functions at AstraZeneca, including Portfolio Management, Out-licensing, and Global Strategic Partnerships. He began his career at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, where he worked in sales and led global marketing teams, ultimately serving as U.S. Marketing Director for their $200M HIV business. Throughout his career, Mr. Borkat has created strategies that increased shareholder value, transformed a product into a blockbuster drug, negotiated multi-million-dollar global partnerships, and spearheaded policy initiatives, one of which resulted in CMS overturning their decision to reduce Medicare coverage.
Mr. Borkat also played an instrumental role in the BioHealth Capital Region becoming the 3rd largest life sciences cluster in the U.S. He served the life science community as a member of the Maryland Governor’s Life Science Advisory Board, Chairman of the Board for BioHealth Innovation and a board director for the Maryland Technology Council. He also is a graduate of Leadership Maryland, a prestigious program for leaders in Maryland.
Jarrod has been an invited speaker at industry conferences such as SXSW, AUTM, BIO, the Wharton Innovation Summit and the BioHealth Capital Region Forum.
Jarrod has a Masters degree in Marketing from Kennesaw State University and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Georgia.
